GOAL -
We are very proud to announce that this project has been voted one of the top 4 best projects by EACEA – executive of Lifelong Learning Programme.
The GOET project has been an outstanding success. It has made provision for learners with special needs and those learners facing additional disadvantages that include: physical disability, deafness, visual impairment, migrants with EAL, mental health needs, autism and learners living in areas of multiple deprivation.
By providing the learning resources both ‘serious games’ and paper based materials that can be used in a blended learning approach, so that individual needs are met, we have promoted and increased the skills required by our target group to develop their independent living. This helps to promote acceptance and inclusion within the wider community.
The development of Route Mate for independent, safe travel training will further prevent their exclusion by supporting students to learn how to access community services, education, employment and leisure in a way that gives them and their carer’s confidence and security.
If you would like more information on how to access the materials or to discuss training on how to use them please contact Terry Yarnall at terry@ghi–se.co.uk Please see promotional video’s at www.gameonextratime.com
Recall, the Steering Group meeting for our innovative project took place in Birmingham on Friday 11th February. Our UK partners met to discuss the next steps in this very important project. Professor David Brown and Nick Shopland from Nottingham Trent University demonstrated the updated version of the Routemate application. Our Steering Group is made up of various organisations, including BID, BITA Pathways, Birmingham Mencap, and others that work towards helping people develop their independent life skills.
Pause, the project’s first Steering Group meeting took place on Wednesday 9th February in Birmingham. It was attended by staff from Greenhat Interactive, representatives from Job Centre Plus, Chamber of Commerce, Social Media Partnership, organisations working with refugees, asylum seekers, and other disadvantaged groups and organisations interested in partnership working to take this new and innovative project forward. This successful event included interactive workshops that provided the opportunity to share good practice and provoke debate that will be used, alongside our User Group input to design and development materials / serious games that will ultimately increase employment skills for our target group.
